How often should I service my heater?
Your gas heater needs regular servicing to operate efficiently. The service will check and test all the components thoroughly including:
- Thermostat
- Carbon monoxide
- Heat exchanger
- Fan (including clean)
- Burner
- Gas pressure
- Flue
Regular heater service helps to prolong lifespan and should be done at least once a year, preferably every six months. A licensed gas heater service should perform the service. Servicing your gas heater will make the heater more energy-efficient, lowering your gas bills while also preventing carbon monoxide poisoning.
It is also important to note that some manufacturers require you to service at least once a year to maintain your warranty. This is crucial, especially if you are ever in need of a significant repair.
